On 30 November, the Mount Bromo began a new eruptive phase with the initial explosion sending up a dark ash cloud to 100-150 m above the crater rim. The Alert Level remains at 2. For more information regarding Indonesia's volcanoes, visit the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia Website.

On the 29 November, the Mount Bromo Volcano began expelling large quanities of ash which fell on nearby communities. On 4 December, small scale explosions sent ash up to 900 m above the crater rim. Officials have closed the area to tourists. The volcano is located in East Java's Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park. The Alert Level remains at 2.
