Volcanological Technology Research Center (formerly the Merapi Volcano Observatory)

The Volcanological Technology Research Center (formerly the Merapi Volcano Observatory) is located in Yogyakarta. The observatory has a staff of 54 including 15 observers at five observation posts that surround the volcano. The observatory was established in 1953. Four teams work from the observatory: geophysics, geochemistry, geology, and instrumentation.
