Structure and Evolution

This large complex, with a maximum elevation 6,660 m is situated just within Argentina, a few kilometers south of Nevados Ojos del Salado in character and consists of a collection of craters, cones, domes and flows covering an area of about 25 km2 (Figure 44.1 and 44.2). Its youthful morphology, state of preservation, and style of activity, suggests that it may be as active as its better known neighbour.
