Chao Dome TM Image Information

Chao TM May 1985 Thematic Mapper image of Chao Dome (22º07'S, 68º09'W). TM Scene ID=50522-14001, Scene 23375, bands 7,4,2.

M4a - TM image of the Chao lava. The three lobes of the lava are shown as I, II, and III respectively. PF are the pyroclastic flow precursors to Chao I, and A is the Airfall and pumice cone precursor to Chao III. The 'elephant skin' texture on the surface of the lava is due to flow ridges (ogives) which are about 30m high and 50m apart.
