From the north, the main structural elements are Cerro Peñnones (P), Nevado Chachani (C), Cerro Nocarane (CN), Cerro La Horqueta (H), and the Pampa de Palacios. Post-glacial lava flows are common. The Rio Chili (RC) drains outhwestward into Arequipa, which is just off the southern part of the image.
