This photo shows another volcano that people watched being born. The largest cone (EJ) is El Jorullo, which first appeared in 1759. El Jorullo is covered by relatively fine ash, and has developed good plant cover since it stopped erupting (in 1774). YC is the youngest feature from the eruption, but it is covered with dense blobs of spatter that is apparently difficult for plants to sprout on. OCC is an old cinder cone from an unrelated eruption.
