I am 29 years old, have studied mechanical engineering with focus on energy technology at the RWTH Aachen, Germany, and finished my PhD thesis on holographic optics for application in photovoltaics. If I would have liked to do anything different in my life, I would have studied geophysics. Currently I am looking for a new job.

I started traveling when I was about 23, and my first visit to Iceland was so impressive, that I visited this island six times up to now. Iceland is of highest complex natural architecture; you can't leave without good pics. All I did was to darken a part of the image sometimes with a movable dark filter, so for example the lake in Askja got a little bit more contrast compared with the crater itself.

I had the luck to visit New Zealand in 1991, also a very impressive combination of folks and landscape. The trip to the top of Ruapehu was a very lucky one, because it rained cats and dogs for days and I had the chance to go up one day before I had to leave.
