A small, seething pyroclastic flow.

A large pyroclastic flow viewed from a distance; at the upper right can be
seen, beyond an intervening ridge, some skyscraper-sized blocks atop the
lava dome; one of these had just fallen to create this thunderous eruption.
Everyone stopped their cars on the highway and got out to watch - no one
said a word - Mike Lyvers.

The ashfall from this eruption.
The next three photos show a sequence of a small pyroclastic flow; in the first shot you can see the big chunks of the lava dome racing downslope and jetting off gas.
