Tarawera
Tarawera - Buried Village 14 June 1886 - Ash and blocks erupted from the Rotomahana craters on 10 June 1886
destroying three villages north of the craters. The left photograph shows the remains of McRae's hotel at Te Wairoa
where 17 people died.
