TM image of Cerro Escorial (E) with its youthful lava flows (L) and well-shaped crater. Pale toned, extensively dissected material is 1.2 Ma ignimbrite which forms the basement to the volcano. Extensively hydrothermally altered material (white) has washed down the eastern slopes of Escorial and Cumbre Sur (CS). Linear feature leading to sulphur mine La Casualidad (LC) is caused by light-toned sulphur ore falling from baskets along aerial cableway connecting mine to railhead.
